Imperial Guard: Tank Renovation Project (Part 2a - Leman Russes: base colours)

So off we go on the final phase of tarting up my Imperial Guard/Astra Militarum (whatever they're called this week).

For no real reason I decided to start with my Leman Russes.

I have three of these - two painted to my original standard and one simply sprayed black:

Given the technique I'm planning to use I can consider these to all be identical in terms of a starting point. My plan is to drybrush the muzzle of the BattleCannon and tank tracks with a metallic colour (I hate painting tracks black prior to drybrushing so I'm going to use the fact that these are already done) and then mask the tanks:

And then spray them all with rattle-can grey primer:

I'm already most of the way there! Well, not quite...

In my next post I'll add some texture to the grey paint as this is very "flat" at  the moment.
